Photoshoot

My best friend from high school Bradie offered to take newborn photos of Kallie. Bradie takes amazing photos and is able to capture the most precious moments. Kallie decided to wake up right when Bradie arrived . . . of course the goal was for her to be asleep but regardless Bradie took some amazing photos of our little girl. Here are a few of my favorites from the day . . . my favorite photo will be on her birth announcement so stay tuned!!!

Bradie . . . thank you again for such amazing photos!

Kallie is Two Weeks Old!

Kallie turned two weeks old on Wednesday. I have no idea how that happened so quickly but it did. She had her wellness check up and the Dr. said she looks great. She was back up to her birth weight 5lb 9oz and 19 inches long (she was 17 inches at birth).

The last two weeks have been somewhat of a blur. I can't believe how little Kallie is yet how much love she has brought to our family in just two weeks. Kallie you are such a little squirmy worm. You love sleeping, eating, looking around when you hear our voices, getting kisses from your big brother Coho and most of all you love sleeping on your daddy's chest. We love you so very much.

Here are some fun pictures from the last week.

Kallie's First Sponge Bath

The other day we decided it was time to give Kallie her first sponge bath. Her hair was starting to style itself! We knew she was not going to like because she turned as red as a lobster in the hospital when they were showing us how to bath her. Here are a few pictures from our bath adventure!

Family Walk

Well it's official we broke in "The Bob" stroller. We decided it is about time we start taking Coho for a walk with Kallie so he can get used to it and not pull me over. Coho did great and so did Kallie. I still know that Coho likes his morning walks with just mom . . . I swear he gave me a little smile when he realized Kallie was staying home with Eric. HAHA! Soon he will realize that Kallie will be his best buddie and a major food source when she starts eating real food . . . I used to seceretly feed our dog Pokey meatloaf under the kitchen table (SHHH).

One week old already!

Today Kallie is one week old! I have no idea where the week went and can't believe she has only been with us for seven days. Kallie is doing great! She weighed 5lb 2.5oz at her Dr. apt and had a healthy check-up. We are going to do a weight check tomorrow just to make sure she is headed in the right direction. The last week has been surreal. I have laughed and cried all week . . .sometimes I do both at the same time. I am just amazed at how much our little Kallie Bear has touched my heart! Here is a little video from yesterday.

Kallie Elizabeth Bates Arrives (8.11.2010)

Kallie Elizabeth Bates entered our lives on 8/11/10 at 7:11am four weeks early. She weighed 5lb 9oz and measured 17 inches long. She is a tiny little peanut but has filled our hearts with so much joy and love that words can't even explain.

What do you mean I am going to have a baby tomorrow???

I was leaving work on Wednesday when I noticed a little something going on "down there" that did not seem normal. I called the Dr. to see what she had to say thinking I was just leaking fluid. She said if it continues I should come in and get checked out. Well with that said I decided the leaking had stopped so I should continue on my way to dinner w/ friends. As I was on I90 my brain was telling me that I probably should just head home "just in case". When I got home I decided to regroup . . . change my clothes and make sure the "leaking" had stopped. WELL . . . after chatting with Eric for a bit I stood up and it happened again, another small gush of fluids (too much info sorry). We decided that it was probably best I get checked out. We put Coho in is crate and off we went assuming we would be home in a few hours. WELL . . .

Once we got to the triage they hooked me up to monitor the baby and fluids continued to "leak" but Eric and I still did not put two and two together since I still had 4 weeks to go before my due date. The nurse said she would test the fluid to see if it was amniotic fluid or potentially urine. In a strange way both Eric and I hoped it was urine even though that would have been quite embarrassing. The nurse checked the fluid and said "congratulations it looks like you will be having a baby by tomorrow". Both Eric and I looked at her very confused. Here is how the conversation went after that . . .

Kristy: What do you mean?
Nurse: Well you are going to have a baby. . .your water broke
Kristy: Are you telling me that is our only option?
Nurse: Yes
Kristy: Wait I don't get it. . .I am not ready for this
Eric: Oh SHIT
Nurse: Let me give you two a minute so you can take this all in
Kristy: Crying and laughing . . .

And off we went into labor and delivery. . . I was induced within the hour and that's how it all began!!!

Hubby got a new job!!!

Eric officially accepted a new job this week. He will be leaving Service Alternatives after seven years and moving on to Loft9. Loft9 is a project management consulting firm and Eric will be a new associate on the team. He is very excited about the opportunity and looking forward to starting a new career. I am so excited for him and looking forward to the future. Now we just hope Baby Bates arrives on time so he can have some time at home w/ me and the baby before he starts his new job!!!
