Strawberry Festival 2019

The summer weather finally arrived, just in time for Strawberry Festival weekend. We spent Saturday uptown watching the parade, looking at all of the booths, eating fair food and exploring. It was a fun morning followed by an afternoon full of beach walks, swimming and relaxing.

Kallie, Mack and Finn have been asking when they going to be old enough to walk to Sandy’s alone. Well we decided Sunday was the day . . . and the kids could not wait. They each had money to spend at the store and off they went. They came home with huge smiles and lots of candy.

I still remember when I walked to Sandy’s for the very first time with kids from the beach. It is sort of a right of passage for the kids on Magnolia Beach and I am so happy Kallie has joined the club!

Northwest Trek Family Day

Last weekend we took a drive to Northwest Trek for a family day. I had always wanted to go and it did not disappoint. We started the adventure with a ride around the park to see a variety of NW animals. Our guide was not sure if we would see much but we lucked out and saw all of the animals (moose, deer, bison, mtn goats, rams and so much more). Since Kallie loves animals and we tend to watch the Discover Channel and National Geographic as a family it was definitely a highlight for her. We explored the rest of the park via trails to check out the bears, hawks, wolves and so much more. Followed by lunch at the most amazing playground, I think Kallie could have played forever.

Our biggest adventure was the obstacle course/zip line we did as a family. Kallie was excite to do the 8+ year old course which was pretty darn high in the air. I was a bit surprised that once we went through the practice course we were on our own (a little frightening but we did it) It was so much fun and a great way to end the day.

4th of July 2019

The 4th of July is one of my favorite weekends on Vashon. All of the houses on Magnolia Beach are full and there are so many kids on the beach exploring. This year was even better because it was a really low tide so we were able to see starfish, dig for clams and walk in the mud. We also spent time out on the boat and went for a family hike (girls only).

The kids (and dads) went on their annual trek to the firework stand, thankfully they only sell safe and sane fireworks although they always come home with way too many! They started their show around 8pm lighting off at least a firework a minute - it seemed non-stop to Molly and I. Once the kids were done we sat on the deck cuddled in blankets and watched the official Vashon and Tacoma shows. As usual both shows were amazing!

These are the weekends I remember as a child and I hope Kallie will have the same fond memories when she grows up.

Gunners Summer Challenge

Kallie was a guest player for the 2010A team in the Gunners Summer Challenge a few weeks back. She knows the girls on the team as well as the coach and was beyond excited to play with them. The team did amazing and came in 1st place in their bracket. Kallie was over the moon to get a medal and team trophy. We love watching Kallie's love for soccer grow and her determination to do her best each and every game. Go Gunners!

Hello Summer - Last day of 2nd Grade 2019

Goodbye 2nd grade, hello summer! This year was a great year for Kallie. She had a great group of kids in her class and was lucky to have a few of her bestfriends in class too (Voilet & Makaela). Her teacher Mrs. Harper was amazing. She is kind, funny and helped the kids learn using fun activities. Kallie excelled in reading this year and although math has been a bit tough she kept at it and her hard work paid off.
