Today we went to a little horse show at Bridal Trails with our friends Kelly and Coop. It all started with a much anticipated bus ride followed by pony rides, face painting (or arm) and our first horse show. Kallie and Coop fit right in with their new cowboy/cowgirl hats. They are definitely two peas in a pod.

First Dance Recital
Tonight was Kallie's first dance recital with her tiny emeralds dance class. It was also a night I have been waiting for since I found I we were having a baby girl. Kallie had no fear, she walked right up on stage and started to dance. Although she didn't do any of the moves the teacher was doing that did not stop her from having a great time! Eric and I were smiling from ear to ear watching our baby girl (or big girl as she likes to say)on stage. Grammy and papa were there to cheer her on too, she is one lucky girl!

Mommy daughter day
I have been looking forward to today for the last two weeks. Today was mommy daughter day! I decided it was time to use a vacation day to actually do something fun with Kallie versus using it when I need to stay home with her if she is sick.
We were up early as usually and met my friend Debbie from PEPS and her daughter Ari at the zoo. The kids had so much fun running around and looking at the animals . . . well sort of, Kallie was afraid of the lions and the monkeys because she said they look angry (HA). Of course the merry-go-round was a hit and a great way to end our day.
As a working mom I find it hard to be in the moment sometimes. We might be a the park "playing" yet I am checking email and think about the other million things I need to get done over the weekend before I head back to work. So today I tried to just be in the moment . . . I did not feel rushed to move from one thing to the next, I did not worry about work b/c I know it will go on without me for a day, I enjoyed great conversation with a friend and most importantly I LOVED spending the day with my daughter.
Sometimes it takes a day like today to put my priorities in check - my family comes first and everything else can wait! Thank you Kallie Elizabeth Bates for spending the day with me and being my baby girl! I love you to the moon and back!
I think this picture confirms she had fun . . . she fell asleep eating her sunbutter sandwich...
