Big Girl!

For the last two weeks I have been holding Kallie on my lap during dinner and trying to feed us both. Most of her food ended up on her cheek or nose and most of my food ended up on top of her head . . . WHOOPS! We have been using this tactic because Kallie only likes to eat when we eat and she likes to watch us eat before taking a bite. Needless to say it wasn't the best options.

Tonight we decided to pull out the highchair at dinner. I was in the kitchen getting dinner ready while Eric got Kallie settled in her chair. My mouth dropped to the floor when I walked in and saw our "baby girl" sitting all by her self at the table. It was at that very moment I understood the quote I have heard so many times from friends "Enjoy every moment because they grow up so fast".

Kallie and her buddy Cy

I started my new job on Monday so this is Kallie's first full week with her nanny Alexandra. My mom watches Kallie on Monday's and Alexandra watches her Tues-Fri. We do a nanny share with another family in West Seattle so it works out great.

Last week I decided to drop Kallie off so she could get used to the other house as well has Alexandra and Cy (the little boy she will be playing with). Kallie had a great time playing with her new buddy, going for walks, and playing with their yellow lab Sally Sue (I am pretty sure she thinks it is Coho). We even found a double stroller so Alexandra can take the kiddos on walks around the neighborhood. Both Mary and I feel lucky to have found Alexandra. Both kids light up when the see her and she fits right in with both families.

(Here is a picture Alexandra took on her first walk with the kiddos and Sophie the giraffe)

I won't lie when Monday came I was of course sad that it was finally time for me to go back to work full time. I have been in denial for six months! It took me over ten minutes to actually say good bye to my little girl. Of course when I finally did leave it was with tears in my eyes and a big deep breath.

I know Kallie has a great time with my mom and Alexandra b/c she smiles when they arrive and is smiling when we get home from work. I am excited for her to have a buddy to play with during the day but I wish I was the one home with her each day. I know this transition is much harder on me than it is on her and know that with time it will be easier (at least that's what everyone keeps telling me).

Happy Valentine's Day

Today was Kallie's first Valentine's Day. Of course I had to dress her in pink and red from head to toe to celebrate. We had a fun day that started off by giving daddy his first Valentine from his little girl. We had a fun visit from Grammy and Papa who brought cookies and a new book for Kallie and finally we made a nice steak dinner while Kallie enjoyed her first taste of green peas :) Happy Valentine's Day Kallie B . . . We Love You!

First Foods . . . YUM?

Today Kallie took her first bite of "real" food. She started with organic rice cereal followed by some organic sweet potatoes. If I had to guess I would say she liked the rice cereal the best. I am not sure how much actually went into her mouth but I am pretty sure she is going to be a good eater! First Bite of Rice Cereal:

Rolling Over!

You did it . . . you finally decided it was time to role over! You have rolled over in the past but decided you did not like it so you stopped. Well yesterday at your Dr. appointment you even rolled over for the Dr. I promised Auntie Amy I would get it on video which turned out to be harder than I thought but here you go . . .

Happy Half Birthday Kallie

Kallie turned six months old on Friday. As always I am not sure where the time went. Kallie had her wellness check-up and the Dr. she is doing great. She is 15lb 6oz(39%) and 25.5in (43%). Such a big girl now considering she was only 5lb 9oz and 17in when she was born.

Kallie you have quite personality these days. You are such a happy little girl who loves to smile and giggle. You especially love your dog Coho. You are always looking around the room for him and you absolutely light up when he finally decides to pay attention to you. You have so much fun laying on a blanket on the floor surrounded by your toys. In fact, the other day you rolled over from you back to your belly and then back again (you were very confused).

The last six months have been the best time of my life. I had no idea how much I would fall in love you with each day I see your smiling face. I find myself just looking at you and wondering how I got so lucky. I love you baby girl, Happy Half Birthday to you!!!

Just Playing

Each day Kallie is feeling better and acting more like herself. Today we did some time in the exersaucer and she had a great time!!! Everything seems to be going straight to her mouth these days . . . let the teething begin.

First Winter Cold

Poor Kallie was sick last week for the first time. I noticed she was a bit more fussy than normal but was not sure what the deal was. Eventually her fussiness turned into a fever and horrible cough. I took her to the pediatrician on Wednesday just to make sure she was OK. Her Dr. said she had a cold but it would go away. Well by Friday she was literally miserable and just not herself so I took her in again. This time we saw a different Dr. and he said she had an ear infection and a mild case of RSV but it would go away. So again I took Kallie home hoping a nap would help her feel better. By 1:00 or so she was literally a wet noodle in my arms and having trouble breathing b/c of her chest congestion. My mom came over and agreed that she needed to go back to the Dr. The Dr. agreed that she had gotten much worse over the course of three hours. They took her oxygen level which was 96 (not bad), started her on antibiotics for her ear infection and a nebulizer treatment every four hours at home.

Today is Tuesday and she still has a horrible cough but she has started eating and smiling again so I know she is on the mend!
